Active Directory Federation Services (the server formerly known as Geneva)
Posted by BPuhl on August 6, 2009
Ok, so it’s old news, but I had to start somewhere and this is as good a place as any. A couple weeks ago at the Worldwide Partner Conference, some naming announcements were made, you can read about them here: http://blogs.technet.com/forefront/archive/2009/07/13/business-ready-security-news-at-wpc.aspx
Most relevant to me, is that Geneva server is now officially called Active Directory Federation Services. In fact, from the article, the 3 distinct components are:
· Active Directory Federation Services – formerly known as “Geneva” Server
· Windows Identity Foundation – formerly known as “Geneva” Framework
· Windows Cardspace – same as current version
So since it’s still going to be called ADFS, then I don’t need to change my blogging tags (yippee!). So here comes the flurry of ADFS related posts, basically from the trenches of the past year or so of dogfooding the server formerly known as Geneva Server.
